Introduction to IBM System x:

IBM System x technology provides a platform to attain higher performance and better service consolidation while reducing hardware costs in the mean time.

IT world has turned it’s attention toward Virtual Processing which implies new tools and methods.  And   the idea of exploiting separate physical resources has now been replaced with Virtual Consolidated Resources.  By virtualization, while being more economical, resource (processors, memory and network equipment) utilization increases substantially. IBM is one of the pioneers in virtualization which provides a wide range of hardware products based on eX4 and eX5 architectures.

IBM also is a partner of Redhat, Microsoft and VMware in producing virtualization software.

In design and production of virtualization products, IBM has prominently used it’s over 40 years of experience in Mainframe Servers production so that the term “Mainframe inspired” is usually applied to these products. Hardware and software design of Mainframes is based on a unique architecture called Enterprise System Architecture or ESA, the fourth generation of which is currently in use.  Using System x architecture is actually extending advanced Mainframe technology into the structure of x86 based servers
